How EHR Data is Driving Improvement in Quality of Care

As part of National Health IT Week, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, the National Quality Forum and Kaiser Permanente are holding an event today at the Center for Total Health in Washington, D.C.—“Using EHR Data to Drive Improvement:  Electronic Measurement in the Real World.”  Care providers and quality improvement experts will come together to comment on the state of electronic measurement and what’s next in meaningful use.  Beacon communities, in particular—having been at the forefront of using EHR data to help providers and care team members improve care—will be represented in the discussions, panels and breakout sessions.  Margaret O’Kane, president of NCQA, will keynote the event, with other speakers including Craig Brammer, Beacon program director for the ONC, Beth Franklin, senior director of health IT at the NQF, and Amy Compton-Phillips, MD, associate executive director of quality for The Permanente Federation.  We’ll be covering the event via Twitter, and you can follow along via hash tag #kpehr.
