Kids and Walking: Video Highlights

Closing out our coverage of Every Body Walk! Week and its events, several panel-driven summits, live blogging and other activities, today we have highlights from the September 23 Kids and Walking Forum held at the Center for Total Health in Washington, D.C.  The event began with a keynote address on childhood obesity by Raymond J. Baxter, PhD, senior vice president of Community Benefit, Research and Health Policy for Kaiser Permanente.  The video includes excerpts from two panels discussing the economics of walking and the importance of walkable communities in keeping kids active.  Also featured is a memorable visit by 100 first-graders from Gladys Noon Spellman Elementary, all of whom participated in the creation of a “walking school bus” and delighted in the appearance of the Power Rangers, who encouraged them to stay physically active.  If you missed the event or would simply like to hear about it in greater detail, you can check out the instant replay here.
