Part of a commitment to Total Health is to be active every day. Activity improves physical health and gives a boost to the brain helping attendees focus and creativity in meetings. Here are some of our favorite ways to build activity into even the most formal meeting or event.
Walking meetings
Just ten minutes can make a significant difference. We have maps for routes from the Center ranging from 10 to 30 minutes. Our team is happy to guide those unfamiliar with the neighborhood.
A walking meeting does not have to be a break from work. Assign attendees a question for the walk (or two, or three) and ask them to report out their conclusions when you return. Or, use the walk as a way for new colleagues to get to know one another by asking two or three questions of other attendees and reporting out fun things they have in common. These are just a couple of ideas, and our team has plenty more!

The seven minute workout
This seven minute routine, first published by the American Society of Sports Medicine in May 2013, uses only body weight, a chair, and the wall for 12 exercises to deliver a high-intensity workout. Upon request, the Center has a private space available so your attendees can step in to complete the workout at their leisure during breaks.
You also may enjoy reading “Classroom,” a compendium written to accompany the Seven Minute workout, created by our Medical Director, Ted Eytan, MD, to hone in on the exercises one can do in a meeting or classroom without distracting everyone else.
