George Halvorson on Walking

This week, schools across the United States celebrated International Walk to School Day.  It’s an annual event focused on encouraging parents to walk their children to school (rather than commute by car or bus) to demonstrate the importance, ease and benefits of walking to our nation’s youth.

The countless health benefits of walking just 30 minutes a day, five days a week, are addressed in this video by George Halvorson, chairman and chief executive officer for Kaiser Permanente.  The far-reaching positive effects of such a simple activity can be surprising.  And walking your son or daughter to school is an easy and enjoyable way to incorporate walking into your daily routine.
