Partnership for a Healthier America — Highlights from First-Ever Childhood Obesity Summit

In November, the inaugural Partnership for a Healthier America Childhood Obesity Summit was held in Washington, D.C. Created in 2010 in conjunction with — but independent from — First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! effort, PHA is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization led by some of the nation’s most respected health and childhood obesity experts. Public, private and nonprofit leaders have come together to establish meaningful commitments and strategies to end childhood obesity, and PHA works with unbiased, third parties to monitor and publicly report on the progress its partners are making on commitments made. (Kaiser Permanente, a founding partner in PHA, announced a commitment to breastfeeding at the summit.)

At the November meeting, our friends at Community Commons and Prevention Speaks captured highlights of summit speakers and activities, as well as several interviews with thought leaders in attendance. They’ve been taking the footage and crafting it into brief clips; this week, we will feature excerpts from those videos here.
