Welcome!

The Center for Total Health opened its doors in Washington, D.C. on April 11.  At the time of the opening, we asked Jack Cochran, MD, executive director of The Permanente Federation, what his hopes were for the center. Here’s what he said:

Jack Cochran, MD: His hopes for the Center for Total Health

We’ve passed the Day-100 milestone that Dr. Cochran mentioned. In that time, as the center became the site of more than 40 meetings and events, the concept of the Center for Total Health as a place to talk about health has evolved. Great things are happening at the center, but those important conversations aren’t restricted to a physical location. We believe that thought-provoking dialogue on issues challenging the health sector can and should be explored whenever and wherever possible. That’s where this blog comes in.

With this blog, we invite people to come together and delve into a wide variety of health topics — care delivery, policy, healthy environments, research and innovation, health IT, and more. We hope to take those lofty goals that Dr. Cochran talked about and start lively conversations that help advance health in the United States and worldwide.

Good ideas can’t be contained by a building, or even an organization. They need space to be introduced, examined, shaped and evolved. This blog aspires to be that space. And we want you to be a part of it. So visit often. Share comments. Suggest topics.  Join the conversation.
